Tiffany goes EAST/WEST

Exploring the East end of Haywood Road is a definite do, but particularly if it is one of the Saturdays scheduled for the EAST/WEST Market pop-up shop.  One Saturday a month from June through October, the venue hosts a collection of vendors with hand-selected vintage and handmade items, art, and other interesting oddities.

I have been craving a good market ever since we visited the famous Brooklyn Flea in New York a couple months ago.  I enjoy any market really, but have been a bit burnt by the traditional flea market where I often find myself rummaging through people’s household junk drawers or pursuing aisle after aisle of cheap cell-phone accessory.  EAST/WEST serves it up  “market fresh” with carefully curated items that will most definitely have you styling and re-styling your whole life.

The hubby is always on the hunt for backpacks…seriously, calling him obsessed with them is not an exaggeration.  So, he was quite delighted to score a dream of a deal with this handcrafted, woven sack from one of our favorite booths that was full of unique African housewares.

Remaining market dates for the season are AUGUST 20, SEPTEMBER 17, and OCTOBER 22 from 11 am to 7 pm.  Visit www.eastwestpopupshop.com for more information.

And that’s not all…EAST/WEST very conveniently neighbors another one of my favorite shops.  VILLAGERS, urban homestead supply and design shop simply never gets old.  My eyes and heart are in awe with each visit.  Particularly as we near our goals of acquiring our own property, I can’t help but have dream clouds as I explore this precious place where function and design are mutually inclusive.

The shop is well-appointed with a sensible supply of garden and farm provisions, kitchen wares, apothecary supplies, and carefully-selected local ceramics.  Villagers 2Whether you’ve been thinking about harvesting honey, sprucing up your space with succulents, or just need some eye-candy in your day, VILLAGERS has something for everyone.  So, retreat from the typical weekend crowd and head over to the East side of Haywood for a day that is sure to refresh all your senses.
